The Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) was launched on a Minotaur V rocket on September 7, 2013 on a seven-month mission to study the lunar exosphere and dust around the Moon. Its mission ended on April 18, 2014 when it was deliberately crashed into the far side of the Moon close to Sundman V crater. LADEE was the first – and to date, only – spacecraft to be designed around the Modular Common Spacecraft Bus (MCSB), a low-cost, fast-development, general purpose spacecraft platform.
